Art and Science Software

All of the Mac software has been updated to run under the latest MacOS. The MacOS buttons link you to the Public folder of my personal dropbox, with the name of the zipped app at the top. Don't join or sign in. Just click on the download button (top right of screen) to download it to your computer. Then unzip it, and open it. Follow the same procedure for PC (Windows) software. The iPadOS buttons link directly to Apple's App Store.

Celestial Dances - This app invites you to explore the relative motions of our solar system's planets, their moons, and six exoplanet systems. It is based on ideas presented in "A Little Book of Coincidence" by John Martineau. Are the amazing patterns created by these orbiting bodies just a coincidence, or is something more than that going on? Take a look and see what you think. Be sure to check out the special relationship between the Earth and Venus, and the resonances of HD 110067's exoplanets.

None of my software is designed to run on a mobile phone. If using an iPad, turn it to landscape mode.

GeoFit - Create all sorts of interesting patterns with this digital version of Donna Bretl's wooden Bretl Block puzzles. Go to the blog page to see some sample "solutions." Latest version includes additional color choices.

Circle Art - Tracing and Connecting Points on Rotating Circles - Trace points on circles that are revolving around points on revolving circles, trace points on circles rolling around the inside or outside of a larger circle, or connect points on circles acting as gears.

Dot-dots - Use a simple recursive process to create Sierpinski's Triangle and other similar fractals.

SquArray - Investigate 3x3 and 4x4 arrays of both numbers and shapes. Make magic squares, create beautiful geometric patterns that change in surprising ways when you manipulate them, or solve the famous 14-15 puzzle.

Stepwising - Check out Kepler's laws of planetary motion, search for solutions to the 3-body problem, or try to drive a rocket powered car around a frictionless circular track of ice.

TranMan - For the mathematical artist or the artistic mathematician. Create objects and transform them in lots of interesting ways. As simple or as technical as you want.
